LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – The Marist Red Foxes are back on top of the MAAC.
Marist defeated rival Siena Saints, 12-8, on Saturday at Hickey Field to capture the 2026 MAAC Men's Lacrosse Championship and clinch an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament. The title is Marist's first since 2023 and the fifth MAAC championship in program history— the most of any team in conference history.
The Red Foxes set the tone early, responding to an opening Siena goal with a dominant first half. Marist scored five goals in the opening quarter and added four more in the second to take a commanding 9-4 lead into halftime.
Collin Patrick led the offensive charge with a hat trick and an assist, including a late-second-quarter goal that extended the Red Foxes' momentum heading into the break. Peter Murray and Sean Mullan each added two goals, while Drew Anderson contributed a pair of goals and an assist in a balanced scoring effort.
Siena pushed back in the third quarter, cutting into the deficit with three goals, but Marist answered with a key strike from Steven Cain to maintain control. The Red Foxes then put the game away in the fourth, as goals from Mullan and Anderson extended the lead to five and sealed the championship victory.
Defensively, Marist was anchored by tournament MVP Richie Metzger, who made 12 saves in a complete-game effort in goal. The Red Foxes also excelled in possession, going a perfect 24-for-24 on clears and holding advantages in shots (51-42) and ground balls (35-30).
Metzger was named MAAC Tournament Championship MVP and headlined Marist's All-Tournament selections, alongside Patrick, Aiden McCaffrey, and Mullan.
With the victory, head coach Dave Scarcello made program history in just his second season, becoming the second Marist alum to win a MAAC title as a student-athlete, assistant coach, and head coach.
Marist now awaits its NCAA Tournament draw and will host a selection show watch party on campus:
