POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – The Marist women's soccer team fell to Holy Cross, 2-0, on Thursday night at Tenney Stadium at Leonidoff Field.
Holy Cross scored both of its goals in the opening 17 minutes. Abigail Cushing opened the scoring in the eighth minute off an assist from Sofia Scalise before Adilin Botet doubled the Crusaders' advantage at the 16:46 mark. Ava Graham and Cushing were credited with assists on Botet's goal.
The Red Foxes settled in following the early deficit and created more opportunities in the second half, matching Holy Cross with five shots after halftime. Marist finished the match with seven shots, including five on goal.
Marissa Foster led the Red Foxes with three shots, all of which were on target. Ariana Mullin, Ella Bryan, and Julia Oliveira also recorded shots for Marist.
Samantha Graf made two saves in the opening half before Nelly Bianchi-Nagle took over in goal for the final 45 minutes. Holy Cross finished with an 18-7 advantage in shots and a 10-1 edge in corner kicks.
Marist will look to bounce back in its next contest on the road at Navy on Sunday.
