ROCHESTER, Michigan – Marist Volleyball began their weekend at the Oakland Invitational with a matchup against the Golden Grizzlies on Friday evening. The Red Foxes ultimately fell to Oakland in five sets (17-25, 25-17, 12-25, 25-23, 11-15). Marist is now 4-7 on the 2026 season.
After falling in the first set, the Red Foxes quickly responded and dominated the second set.
Mallory Reck led the offensive effort with six kills, while
Caelyn Dumas dished out 10 assists and
Claudia Kasperski led the defense with five digs in the frame.
Marist fell behind again after the third set but once again tied the match in the fourth. Reck added another five kills and five digs to her stat line, while Dumas added another 12 assists. The Red Foxes fought to the end but fell in five sets to the Golden Grizzlies, 3-2.
Top Performances:
- Caelyn Dumas dished out 43 assists in the match, recording her 1,000th career assist in the second set.
- Mallory Reck performed on both sides of the ball, recording 18 kills and 15 digs for the Red Foxes.
- Sarah Bumstead reached double figures with 10 kills on the night.
- Claudia Kasperski was excellent defensively with 11 digs.
The Red Foxes return for their final match of the Oakland Invitational tomorrow, when they will face Illinois State at 2 p.m.
