ROCHESTER, Michigan – Marist Volleyball concluded their opening road trip at the Oakland Invitational on Saturday afternoon, falling to Illinois State in three sets (17-25, 19-25, 22-25). The Red Foxes fall to 4-8 on the season.
Marist dropped the first set to Illinois State.
Molly Malone led the offense in the frame with three kills, while
Caelyn Dumas dished out eight assists. In the second set, the Red Foxes fell once again. Malone recorded another three kills, tying
Mallory Reck for the team lead in the set.
Heidi Chambers led the defense with three digs.
Marist dropped the third set to complete the three-set loss. Despite falling in the final frame, the Red Foxes continued to battle.
Trinity Woods recorded four kills in the set, while Dumas added 10 assists.
Top Performances:
- Caelyn Dumas continued to contribute with 28 assists and six digs.
- Mallory Reck led the team with eight kills while adding six digs.
- Cecilia Potter-Pessoa led the defense with seven digs.
The Red Foxes return to Poughkeepsie for their home opener, where they will take on the University of New Haven on Tuesday evening at 6 p.m.
