POUGHKEEPSIE, New York – Marist Volleyball opened their home slate with a midweek match against the University of New Haven on Wednesday evening. The Red Foxes took down the Chargers in straight sets (25-18, 25-13, 25-13).
The Red Foxes quickly jumped ahead of the Chargers to win the first set.
Mallory Reck led the offensive effort with six kills in the frame, while
Claudia Kasperski and Cecilia Potter-Pessoa each recorded five digs to lead the defense.
Marist carried the momentum into set two and once again defeated New Haven to take a 2-0 lead.
Molly Malone led the offense with three kills, while Potter-Pessoa once again led the defense with four digs.
In set three, the Red Foxes didn't relent and completed the straight-set victory. Malone led the offense again, adding five kills, while Reck led the defense with three digs in the set.
Top Performances:
- Mallory Reck dominated on both sides of the ball, recording 12 kills and 11 digs in the match.
- Caelyn Dumas once again led the Red Foxes in assists with 36.
- Cecilia Potter-Pessoa recorded 11 digs to help lead the defensive effort.
The Red Foxes head back on the road to take on Rider University on Friday night at 6 p.m. ET.
