LAWRENCEVILLE, New Jersey – Marist Volleyball hit the road for a three-game road trip, beginning with a Friday night matchup against the Rider Broncs. The Red Foxes took down the Broncs in straight sets (25-11, 25-16, 25-23). Marist is now 6-8 overall and 1-0 to begin conference play.
The Red Foxes quickly jumped out in front and never looked back in the opening set.
Mallory Reck was the offensive leader in the frame with four kills, while Cecilia Potter-Pessoa led the defense with four digs.
In the second set, Marist kept its momentum going to take a two-set lead. This time, Potter-Pessoa spearheaded both sides of the ball, recording three kills and four digs.
Caelyn Dumas had a strong frame, racking up six assists, three service aces, and two kills.
The Broncs jumped out to an early lead in set three, but the Red Foxes were resilient and came back late to win the final set and complete the sweep.
Taylor Miller led the way with five kills for the Red Foxes, while Reck added another four and Dumas dished out another 11 assists.
Top Performances:
- Taylor Miller had a great night, recording 11 kills for the Red Foxes.
- Mallory Reck also recorded double-digit kills with 10 and added seven service aces and four digs.
- Caelyn Dumas recorded 23 assists, adding to her team-leading total.
- Cecilia Potter-Pessoa led the way defensively with 10 digs.
The Red Foxes remain in New Jersey, where they will match up with Saint Peter's at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
