November 1, 2000 -- Juniors Diesa Seidel (Red Hook, NY) and Sean Kennedy (North Port, NY) were each tabbed, by the league's coaches, as pre-season All-MAAC selections it was announced today at the conference's annual media day, held in Madison Square Garden.

A 6-4 center, Seidel makes her first appearance as a first team All-MAAC honoree. Last year, the Red Hook, NY product led the Red Foxes averaging 13.8 points and 8.6 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per night. Among league players, Seidel finished in the top 10 in four statistical categories including scoring (seventh), field goal percentage (sixth), rebounding (fourth) and blocks (second).

Over the summer, Seidel was a member of a collegiate traveling squad, comprised of some of the top players in the New York Metropolitan area, traveling and playing in Europe.

Joining Seidel as a pre-season first-team All-MAAC selection are: pre-season Player of the Year Gail Strumpf (Fairfield), Amy Getman (Niagara), Shauna Geronzin (Canisius), Sacha Baker (Siena), Erica Rath (Loyola) and Iris Beistline (Rider).

Kennedy earned a spot on the All-MAAC second team after his performances over the past two years. Regarded as one of the top ball-handlers in the league, the North Port, NY product averaged 9.7 points per game while leading the MAAC with 5.8 assists per night.

Joining Kennedy on the league's second team are: Dyree Wilson (Iona), Nakeia Miller (Iona), Scott Knapp (Siena) and Bruce Seals (Manhattan).
