January 25, 2001 -- The Marist College Red Fox basketball team hosts the first place Rider Broncs at the McCann Center this evening, with tip-off slated for 7:30 p.m. Marist is looking to rebound after suffering an 69-81 to Iona on Monday night, hoping to extend Rider's winless streak on the Poughkeepsie campus. The Broncs have lost all nine games played at McCann.
Marist will most likely be without the services of leading scorer and starting forward Drew Samuels, who has sat our the past two games with an ankle injury. Senior Donald Vale, who has averaged 5.2 points and 7.0 rebounds since Samuels went down, will again make a starting appearance.
Rider is coming off their upstate swing, in which they were handed their first conference loss of the year at the hands of Canisius. Mario Porter, the Broncs leading scorer, will most likely net his 1,000th career point tonight, needing just four more points to reach the milestone.
