West Point, NY--- The Marist College men's tennis team competed in the second day of the West Point Invitational, hosted by the United States Military Academy. The top player of the day was Viktor Sapezhnikov (Brooklyn, NY), who led the way for the Red Foxes in the "C" Singles competition.
Sapezhnikov fought for the win in his first match of the day against Pavan Gramenger of Rutgers, 6-3, 4-6, 7-5. In the semifinal round Sapezhnikov continued his winning streak, defeating Aaron Shumaker from Georgetown, 6-7, (8-6), 6-1, 6-2.
Today Sapezhnikov will compete in the championship round, playing Cornell's Matt Cherner-Ranft.
The remaining Red Foxes will take on Canisius this afternoon at 12 noon, in Poughkeepsie, NY.
