Philadelphia, PA - The Marist College men's tennis team began play at the Omni Hotel Eastern Regional Championships at the University of Pennsylvania on Friday afternoon. There are over 35 teams in the tournament, spanning the eastern region from Maine to Virginia.
In singles action, Chris Hagen (Oslo, Norway) lost his first round match to Brett McKean of Cornell 6-1, 6-4. Patrick Hofer (Villach, Austria) fell to John Tully of Delaware in the first round 6-3, 6-3.
The only doubles match of the day for Marist involved Hofer and Martin Aldorsson (Kungsbacka, Sweden). They dropped a hard-fought match to Arnie and Rafael Albomaz of Army 8-5.
The Red Foxes continue play in the back draw at the Eastern Regional Championships on Saturday.
