Poughkeepsie, NY - For the second time in three weeks, the Marist College men's soccer team captured both honors handed out by the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Senior midfielder Joseph Crespo (Bolton, CT) was named MAAC Player of the Week, while freshman forward Bruno Machado (Danbury, CT) was named Co-Rookie of the Week, it was announced by the league office this afternoon.

Crespo, a graduate of Bolton High School, tallied two goals and one assist in the Red Foxes' wins over Niagara and Canisius. Crespo had an assist in the 4-2 win over Niagara, and scored two goals in the first half, including the game-winner, to lead Marist to a 3-1 victory over Canisius.

Crespo, an All-MAAC First Team selection in 2001, has bounced back from an ankle injury that sidelined him for the four games of the season. He is currently second on the team in points with 10, on three goals and four assists.

Machado, a graduate of Danbury High School, scored one goal and recorded two assists last week for the Red Foxes. Machado, who has been named MAAC Rookie of the Week for the second time this season, led Marist with a goal and an assist in their win over Niagara last Friday. He finished the week with an assist against Canisius on Sunday.

As a rookie, Machado has started in all 16 games for the Red Foxes and currently leads the team in points with 18, on seven goals and four assists.

The Red Foxes clinched a spot in the MAAC Tournament with their win over Canisius, and are now 7-8-1 on the season. Marist is 6-2 in the MAAC, which is good for second place overall. The Red Foxes return to action on Saturday, November 9th, when they travel to Loudonville, NY to face Siena at 1:00 p.m. in their regular season finale.
