Poughkeepsie, NY---The Marist College women's water polo team (2-7) was defeated this afternoon by Villanova and Iona, with scores of 12-10 and 9-3 respectively, to close out play in the final day of the Marist Water Polo Tournament.

Earlier this afternoon against Iona, the Gaels went unanswered for six goals in the first three quarters of play, until Alyson Fiorillo put the Red Foxes on the board with 5:22 remaining in the fourth quarter. Jen Meyer (Fairport, NY) and Carolyn Rosler each scored the remaining two goals for Marist. Jocelyn Chapman led Iona's scoring charge, with four goals on the match. Liz Sovern led in saves 6-5, as the goalkeeper for Marist.
