Red Fox Women's Lacrosse Suffers 11-9 Defeat Against Manhattan

Poughkeepsie, NY---The Marist College women's lacrosse team (2-7, 0-2 MAAC) was defeated this afternoon by Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe Manhattan College (2-7, 2-1 MAAC), 11-9, on Leonidoff Field.

The Red Foxes held a 5-2 lead over the visiting Jaspers at the half, but were outscored 9-4 in the second, as Manhattan went on to secure the victory. A goal by the Jasper's Nora Jacquette with 0:18 left in regulation solidified the win for Manhattan, as they notched their second league victory on the season.

Leading the Red Foxes scoring power this afternoon was Brandi Petersen (Syracuse, NY), who tallied four goals. Kelly Sullivan (Lindenhurst, NY) and Maria Reoch (Shirley, NY) registered two goals apiece, and Maria Stehn (Massapequa, NY) also put a goal into the net. In addition, Lauren Sherman (Media, PA), Lauren Serge (Albany, NY) and Alison Reilley (West Genesee, NY) contributed one assist each to round out the scoring for Marist.

The Jaspers led in saves 17-10, and in ground balls 30-23, while the Red Foxes led in shots on goal 37-21.

The Red Foxes will return to action this Saturday and Sunday in Buffalo, NY, taking on league opponents Niagara and Canisius. The Niagara game is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, with Sunday's game at Canisius set for 10:00 a.m.
