Detelj Announces Addition of Scharf to Coaching Staff

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Marist University women's lacrosse head coach Keith Detelj '07 announced the addition of Devon Scharf as an assistant coach.

"We are thrilled to add Devon to our staff as another important step in the continued growth of our program," Detelj said. "Her positional expertise, passion for player development, and ability to build strong relationships will make an immediate impact on our student-athletes and our program."

Scharf joins Marist after spending the previous four seasons as an assistant coach at La Salle University from 2021-25. During her time with the Explorers, Scharf served as the team's goalie coordinator, overseeing individual development and planning for all goalkeepers, in-game adjustments, film sessions and out-of-season training. She also assisted with the team's defense and clears.

In addition to her coaching responsibilities, Scharf handled several areas of program operations at La Salle. She coordinated strength and conditioning schedules, implemented practice and gameday warmups, coordinated team travel and meals, and oversaw film and student managers. She also served as a liaison to equipment and sports information while assisting with recruiting operations and fundraising efforts.

Prior to La Salle, Scharf served as a women's lacrosse graduate assistant at Virginia Commonwealth University during the 2020-21 season. She assisted with goalkeeper development, practice planning and execution, gameday operations, team meals and travel.

Scharf began her coaching career as the head junior varsity lacrosse coach at Lower Merion High School in 2017. She also gained experience in athletic performance as an intern at Villanova University in 2019, assisting with the football and men's and women's lacrosse programs in athlete development and daily coaching.

A four-year NCAA student-athlete at Cabrini University, Scharf competed in both field hockey and lacrosse from 2015-19. During her time at Cabrini, she was part of seven conference championship teams.

Scharf earned a master's degree in Sports Leadership from VCU in 2021 after earning a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion with a concentration in Sports Science from Cabrini University in 2019.
