Red Foxes Place 20 Student-Athletes on MAAC All-Academic Team

EDISON, N.J. - The MAAC women's lacrosse awards were released by the conference on Friday. Marist had three players earn All-MAAC honors, while 20 student-athletes were named to the MAAC All-Academic Team.

Sophomore midfielder Amelia Pirozzi and sophomore defender Taija Bell were named to the All-MAAC Second Team, while freshman defender Lyle Brown was selected to the MAAC All-Rookie Team.

Pirozzi had a breakout season for the Red Foxes, leading the team with 33 goals, a mark that ranked 11th in the conference. She also recorded 12 draw controls, seven ground balls, six caused turnovers, and six assists.

After earning All-Rookie Team honors a season ago, Bell made her mark once again on the backline for Marist. She started all 16 games and recorded team-high totals of 46 ground balls and 31 caused turnovers. Bell ranked third in the MAAC with averages of 2.88 ground balls per game and 1.94 caused turnovers per game.

Brown made an immediate impact for the Red Foxes, starting all 16 games in her rookie season. She ranked second on the team in both ground balls (38) and caused turnovers (27), and added one assist on the season.

20 student-athletes received a spot on the MAAC All-Academic Team. Student-athletes must complete two semesters at their institution while holding a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher.
