Buffalo, NY---The Marist College women's lacrosse team defeated Niagara University, 9-6, in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) contest this afternoon in Buffalo, NY. With the win, the Red Foxes improved to 3-7 overall and 1-2 in MAAC play. The Red Foxes held a 5-3 lead over the Purple Eagles at the half, and held it during the second half of regulation to secure the victory.
The Red Foxes were led in scoring by junior Kelly Sullivan (Lindenhurst, NY), who registered four goals on the afternoon. The scoring charge was rounded out by freshman Brandi Petersen (Syracuse, NY) who had two goals and two assists, by sophomores Maria Reoch (Shirley, NY), Katie Tutak (North Tonawanda, NY) and senior Alison Reilley (West Genessee, NY) who each scored one goal apiece.
In the net goalkeeper Heather Ripp (Lake Ronkonkoma, NY) made 10 saves on the contest.
The Red Foxes return to action tomorrow, April 14th, where they will take on league opponent Canisius in Buffalo, NY. The game is set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
