Buffalo, NY---The Marist College women's lacrosse team (4-7, 2-2 MAAC) were victorious over Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opponent Canisius this afternoon, 11-2, in the contest held in Buffalo, NY. The Red Foxes held a 5-0 lead over the host Golden Griffins at the half, and maintained their lead into the second half to secure the win.
Leading the Red Fox scoring charge on the afternoon was freshman Brandi Petersen (Syracuse, NY), who had five points, with a combination of four goals and one assist. Junior Kelly Sullivan (Lindenhurst, NY) and sophomore Suzanne Gmoser (Dix Hills, NY) each registered two goals, while senior Alison Reilley (West Genesse, NY) had two points, with one goal and one assist. In addition, Katie Tutak (North Tonawanda, NY) scored a goal and Maria Reoch (Shirley, NY) had an assist in the Red Fox effort.
Goalkeeper Heather Ripp (Lake Ronkonkoma, NY) made four saves on four shots faced in the contest. The Red Foxes outshot the Griffs 27-13, and also held a 29-18 advantage in ground balls.
The Red Foxes will return to action on Wednesday, April 17th, as they travel to take on league opponent Siena College. The contest with the Saints is set to begin at 4:00 p.m. in Loudonville, NY.
