Poughkeepsie, NY---The Marist College women's lacrosse team was defeated 15-7, by Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe, Fairfield University, in a league contest held on Leonidoff Field. The Red Foxes fall to 5-8 on the season, and 3-3 in the MAAC, while the Stags improve to 8-5 overall, and 5-0 in league play. Fairfield held an 8-2 lead over the host Red Foxes at the half, and continued to hold off Marist's five-goal effort in the second half to secure the win.
Leading the Red Fox scoring charge on the afternoon were Kelly Sullivan (Lindenhurst, NY) and Alison Reilley (West Genessee, NY), who tallied two goals each. Maria Stehn (Massapequa, NY), Lauren Sherman (Media, PA), and Brandi Petersen (Syracuse, NY) also scored one goal apiece in the Marist effort. In addition, Beth Miller (Garden City, NY) added an assist to the Sherman goal. Heading the Stags scoring was Jessica Conahan, who registered three goals and an assist.
The Stags led in groundballs 21-19, and in draw controls 13-9 over the Red Foxes.
The Red Foxes will return to action on Tuesday, April 23rd, as they host Quinnipiac in a non-league contest on Leonidoff Field. The game is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
