Red Foxes Fall to Quinnipiac, 13-11, in Women's Lacrosse

Poughkeepsie, NY---The Marist College women's lacrosse team (5-9, 3-3 MAAC) was defeated by Quinnipiac University, 13-11, in a non-league contest this afternoon, on Leonidoff Field.

The Red Foxes trailed visiting Quinnipiac at the half, 5-4, and were able to cut the deficit to 13-11 with 3:15 remaining in regulation. Despite four goals unanswered by Marist at the end of the second half, with two goals scored by Alison Reilley (West Genessee, NY) and one apiece from Maria Reoch (Shirley, NY) and Suzanne Gmoser (Dix Hills, NY), the Red Foxes were unable to keep the scoring momentum alive as Quinnipiac went on to secure the win.

Leading the scoring effort for Marist on the afternoon was Kelly Sullivan (Lindenhurst, NY) and Reilley, each scoring three goals and adding an assist. In addition, Lauren Serge (Albany, NY) tallied two goals and one assist in the Red Fox offensive charge.

For Quinnipiac, Marta Waldron registered four goals with an assist, and Kristin Seaman contributed two goals and four assists.

In the net, Quinnipiac goalkeeper Megan Matthews led in saves 21-11. The Red Foxes led in shots on goal, 36-26, and in groundballs, 25-21. Quinnipiac held a lead in draw controls, 15-14.

The Red Foxes return to action on Sunday, April 28th, as they host the University of Vermont. The contest is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. on Leonidoff Field.
