Football Downed By Duquesne 36-0 In Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh, PAThe Marist College football dropped a 36-0 decision to host Duquesne University this afternoon in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Football League, in Pittsburgh, PA. The Red Foxes drop to 2-1 overall on the year, and 1-1 in MAAC play, losing their first game away from Poughkeepsie, NY this season., and 1-1 in MAAC play, losing their first game away from Poughkeepsie, NY this season.

The Dukes, 3-0 overall and 2-0 in MAAC play, scored 17 first half points, and then proceeded to put the Red Foxes away in the second half scoring a touchdown early in the second half and then putting up 13 points in the final quarter of play. The Dukes, ranked second in the Mid-Major poll entering the game racked up 460 yards of total offense in the game. The 36 points eclipses the total number of points Marist allowed during the first two games of the year.

Marist struggled offensively and managed just 66 yards of offense in the game, and only five first downs. The running back duo of Chris Price and Alfredo Riullano was held to only 23 yards rushing, 13 for Price and 10 for Riullano. Kevin Bielen was 6-12 passing on the day for the Red Foxes; one of three Marist quarterbacks to complete a pass in the game.

On the defensive side of the ball, Aubrey Bennett shone for the Red Foxes, as he led the way with 11 tackles, three solo, and two pass deflections. Adam Ercoli had seven solo tackles in the game for Marist, including three that went for a loss of yardage. The Red Foxes recorded three sacks on the day, and deflected five passes.

Marist will return home on Saturday, September 28th to host Wagner. Game time, on Parent's Weekend at Marist, is set for 6:00 pm on Leonidoff Field.
