Fox Sports-New York To Air November 18th Home Preseason NIT Game

Oct. 23, 2003

Poughkeepsie, NY-The Marist College Department of Athletics announced today that the Men's Basketball Preseason NIT home game, versus Hofstra, will be aired live on Fox Sports-NY. The November 18th contest is to be played at the McCann Center, with tip-off time set for 7:30 pm.

"This is an exciting time for our program as we host the preseason NIT opener," said director of athletics Tim Murray. "Now we are able to offer the game to people around the region, as Fox Sports-NY will broadcast the contest, the first Fox Sports broadcast from the McCann Center.

The McCann Center gained national recognition last season, on January 4, 2003, when the Red Foxes hosted Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe Manhattan, in a live telecast on ESPN2.

"I think the fact that we have such a loyal fan base can be attributed to why networks want to broadcast from the McCann Center," said Marist head men's basketball coach Dave Magarity."

Carl Reuter and Jack Armstrong will comprise the Fox Sports-NY broadcast team for the contest. Reuter will handle the play-by-play duties, while Armstrong will provide color commentary. Armstrong is a familiar face to fans of Marist College and the MAAC, as he coached at Niagara University, as well as having appeared on the broadcast team for numerous MAAC TV Games of the Week.

The Fox Sports-NY telecast is one of at least 13 home Marist games that will be televised this season. Marist will have its January 9th MAAC contest versus Loyola on the MSG Network, and has entered into a deal with Time Warner Cable to air 11 other home Marist games. The Red Foxes will appear on the MSG Network a second time, playing Saint Peter's at Pepsi Arena on January 16th. Marist may also make appearances on MSG, Fox Sports and ESPN2 during the 2004 MAAC Tournament.
