Men's Lacrosse Drops Season Opener To No. 14 Navy, 12-1

Annapolis, MD - The Marist College men's lacrosse team dropped their season opener to 14th ranked Navy on Saturday, 12-1. The game was called after three quarters due to inclement weather.

Navy (1-0) struck early, scoring two goals in the first minute of the game, before Josh Ben-Eliyahu (East Setauket, NY) found the back of the net at the 8:57 mark in the first quarter.

The Midshipmen responded with 10 unanswered goals, including five in the second quarter for the win. Navy outshot Marist 31-6 and had a 43-18 advantage in groundballs.

Bobby Gross (Huntington, NY) had six saves in his first collegiate game for the Red Foxes (0-1).

Joe Bossi, Graham Gill, Greg Conklin, and Jon Birsner had two goals apiece for Navy.

The Red Foxes return to action on Saturday, February 22nd, when they travel to Bethlehem, PA to take on Lehigh at 1:00 p.m.
