Burlington, VT - The Marist College women's tennis team played their first dual match of the spring season and defeated the University of Vermont 4-3 on Sunday. The Red Foxes improve their record to 4-0 on the season.
In singles play, Diana Perachio (Newtown, CT) defeated Molly Moran 6-3, 6-1. Yana Krugly (Staten Island, NY) also notched a victory, winning 6-1, 6-1 over Susannah O'Brien, while Yana Tikhonko (Brooklyn, NY) dropped her match to Laura Beth Halter 6-4, 6-2. Courtney McGeever (Wickliffe, OH) won in three sets over Maika Foukal 6-4, 2-6, 6-0. Katie Szymanski (Scituate, MA) came up short in her match, falling to Alie Taylor 6-1, 6-3, while Colleen Kelly (Poughkeepsie, NY) played in her first collegiate match and earned a 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 win over Kyna Delaney to take the deciding point.
Marist dropped two of the three doubles matches on the day, with Perachio and McGeever picking up the win over Delaney and Moran 8-6. Tikhonko and Krugly fell to Halter and Taylor 8-6, while Szymanski and Kelly lost to Harrison and Foukal 8-2.
The Red Foxes return to action on Wednesday, March 26th, when they travel to New Rochelle, NY to take on conference foe Iona at 3:00 p.m.
