Men's Lacrosse Falls To Lehigh 13-8

Bethlehem, PA - The Marist College men's lacrosse team fell to the Lehigh Mountain Hawks 13-8 this afternoon at the Ulrich Sports Complex. The Red Foxes fall to 0-2 on the season, while Lehigh improves to 1-0.

The Red Foxes led 2-1 after the first quarter, with Brian Diele (Stewart Manor, NY) scoring both goals. Marist would strike again in the second quarter, when Tim Iuculano (Silver Spring, MD) found the back of the net to make it 3-1, before Lehigh scored eight unanswered goals to take a 9-3 lead with 2:36 left in the third quarter.

Both teams scored four times in the final quarter, as Marist was outshot 44-35 in the contest. Lehigh also won 21 faceoffs to Marist's four, while having a 44-26 advantage in ground balls.

Diele led Marist with four goals and one assist, while Jay Nahama (Hampton, NJ) and Billy Duerr (Manasquan, NJ) had one goal and two assists apiece. Iuculano, Andrew Walsh (Liverpool, NY), and Duerr each scored the first goals of their respective collegiate careers, with Iuculano adding an assist. Bobby Gross (Huntington, NY) collected 18 saves in goal for the Red Foxes.

Tony Lowe led Lehigh with five goals and an assist, while Andrew Lucas had two goals and one assist. Jeff King and Connor McCarthy also scored twice for the Mountain Hawks. Mike Osborne paced Lehigh in the assist department with five, and Tom Ellis made 12 saves in goal for the win.

The Red Foxes return to action on Saturday, March 1st, when they take on Hartford at Springfield College, beginning at 5:00 p.m.
