New Rochelle, NY - The Marist College women's tennis team surrendered only three games in all of the matches combined as they cruised to a 7-0 win over conference foe Iona on Wednesday in New Rochelle. The Red Foxes remain perfect on the season with a 6-0 record, and a 2-0 mark in MAAC play, while the Gaels fall to 0-8, with a 0-7 record in the conference.

In singles, Yana Tikhonko (Brooklyn, NY) won in straight sets, defeating Liz Fitzmaurice 6-0, 6-0. Diana Perachio (Newtown, CT), Yana Krugly (Staten Island, NY), and Courtney McGeever (Wickliffe, OH) also won by the same scores in their respective matches. Colleen Kelly (Poughkeepsie, NY) rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Michelle Babb, while Tara Dolan (Hopewell Junction, NY) took the sixth singles point by default.

In doubles action, Perachio and McGeever defeated the team of Fitzmaurice and Mini, 8-0. Dolan and Katie Szymanski (Scituate, MA) took the other match, winning 8-2 over Castellano and Purcell.

The Red Foxes return to action on Saturday, March 29th, when they travel to St. Bonaventure, NY to take on MAAC opponents Niagara and Canisius. The match against Niagara will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Canisius match, which is slated to begin at 1:00 p.m.
