Women's Lacrosse Drops Decision Against Rutgers, 17-3

Poughkeepsie, NY-The Marist College women's lacrosse team fell to the Rutgers University Scarlet Knights 17-3 this evening on Leonidoff Field. The Red Foxes drop to 2-4 overall, while the Scarlet Knights improve to 5-1 on the season.

Sophomore Brandi Petersen (Syracuse, NY) scored two goals for the Red Foxes in the second half, and assisted on the third by attacker, Lauren Serge (Albany, NY). Senior Molly Hanley (Simsbury, Conn.) assisted on the first goal by Petersen.

For Rutgers, Jessica Apel, Cali Wojdyla, Kristin Checksfield, Maggie Bopp, and Patra Krinis each had two goals for the game.

Marist goalkeeper, Heather Ripp (Lake Ronkonkoma, NY) made 11 saves, five of which came in the second. Rutgers goalie Lyndsey Feldman made four saves giving up no goals in 36 minutes of play, while teammate Jaclyn Greenbaum made two saves, giving up three goals.

The Red Foxes return to action Sunday, March 30th, when they travel to the University of Vermont for a 2:00 p.m. contest.
