Fairfield, Conn.-The Marist College women's lacrosse team lost their game to Sacred Heart, 14-7, this afternoon in a non-conference match-up. The Red Foxes are now 3-6 on the season and post an 0-1 record in conference action.
Junior Maria Reoch (Shirley, NY) and sophomore attacker Brandi Petersen (Syracuse, NY) each had two goals for the Red Foxes. Kelly Sullivan (Lindenhurst, NJ), Maria Stehn (Massapequa, NY), and Molly Hanley (Simsbury, Conn.) each added a goal.
Patricia Leahy (New Hyde Park, NY) led the team in ground balls with nine. Both Leahy and Reoch played outstanding on defense, despite not getting the win.
Senior Mellanie Nai (Suffield, Conn.), a standout goalkeeper in soccer, played her first collegiate lacrosse game in goal, making five saves for the Red Foxes.
The Red Foxes return to action Saturday, April 12th, when they host Niagara in a conference game at 12:00 p.m. on Leonidoff Field.
