The Marist's men's tennis team defeated Holy Cross this afternoon, taking its fall record to 3-0. Frank Algier and Jeff Nguyen each won their singles matches without allowing a single game point to Holy Cross.
In first singles, Pedro Genovese defeated Brian Kelly, 7-5, 6-0 and his doubles partner, Leonardo Rodriguez downed Nick Casalora, 6-3, 6-3. Ray Josephs defeated Tom Moran, 6-3, 6-1 in third singles while Algier and Nguyen picked up wins in fourth and fifth singles, respectively. Sean Tully downed Mike Marano, 6-2, 6-0 at sixth singles to seal the Marist win.
On the doubles side, Genovese and Rodriguez downed Kelly and Casalord, 8-1 in firstr doubles. The second doubles team of Josephs and Nguyen defeated Marano and Guido, 8-1 and the third team of Tully and Algier won 8-6 over Lombardo and John Practico.
The Marist men's tennis team will be in action again this weekend when they travel to Lewisburg, PA for the Bucknell Tournament.
