POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.-Marist coach Matt Brady announced the signing of 6'4 wing guard Gerald Carter Friday. Carter, who currently attends the Holderness School in Holdnerness, N.H., averaged 16 points, seven assists and three rebounds last season as a junior and led his team to a state title.
"I was really happy with Marist's coaches when I went up there," Carter said. "They made me feel like I was their top target all along and felt like I would be a good fit for their program."
Prior to his stint at Holderness, Carter attended Wings Academy in New York City and averaged 13 points and 10 assists per game, while leading the squad to a PSAL Class B title.
Gerald brings a high degree of athletic ability, toughness and a winning attitude to our program," said Brady. "We couldn't be happier with Gerald's commitment to Marist."
The Red Foxes are currently 2-1 in Brady's first year in Poughkeepsie. They will look for win No. 3 tonight with a game at Vermont at 7:00 p.m.
