Water Polo Drops Pair at Princeton Invitational

PRINCETON, NJ- The Marist College women's water polo team had a tough final day at the Princeton Invitational dropping two matches this afternoon. The Red Foxes fall to 1-8 overall and 0-1 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Water Polo League action.

The Red Foxes opened the day with a 12-1 loss to Bucknell. Freshman Jillian Jefferds (Naperville, IL/Neuqua Valley) tallied the lone Marist goal. Sophomore goalie Amanda Long (Stockton, CA/St. Mary's) made 10 stops for the Red Foxes.

Marist then found themselves on the losing end of a 11-3 decision to Brown in its second match of the day. Three different Red Foxes scored on the day, as Jefferds scored her second of the day and Susan Russo (Smithtown, NY/Hauppauge) and Susan Grant (Bell Canyon, CA/Calabasas) added a goal apiece. Long notched eight saves and two steals for the Red Foxes.

The Red Foxes take a few days off before returning to action on February 28th at the Brown Tournament.
