Red Foxes Have Record Setting Performance At Met Indoor Championships

Feb. 8, 2004

NEW YORK The Marist College men's track team set two school records Sunday at the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Championships, held at the Armory Track and Field Center.

The 3,200-meter relay team of sophomore Justin Harris (Wappingers Falls, NY), sophomore Sean Prinz (Wantagh, NY), freshman Mike Bamberger (East Northport, NY) and freshman Brian DeMarco (Whippany, NY) placed eighth overall in 7:51.22, shattering the old mark by more than four seconds. The team just missed qualifying for the IC4A Championships in the event; the IC4A standard is 7:51.00. Harris led off with a 1:59.3 leg, followed by Prinz in 1:56.2, Bamberger in 1:57.2 and DeMarco in 1:58.1.

Senior captain Eli Bisnett-Cobb (Ballston Spa, NY) continued his barrage on the record books with a school record in the 60-meter high hurdles. Bisnett-Cobb placed third overall in 8.28 seconds, narrowly missing the IC4A qualifying mark of 8.25.

In the 3,000-meter run, sophomore Mike Schab (West Islip, NY) ran a season-best time of 9:04.16. Freshman Jeff Belge (Brewerton, NY) ran a personal-best time of 9:05.38.

The men's track team returns to action on Saturday at the FasTrack Invitational at Boston University.
