Red Foxes Set to Participate in Colonial Relays

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - Marist men's and women's outdoor track and field teams will continue their season at the Colonial Relays, hosted by William & Mary this weekend.

WEEKLY AWARDS
  • Alexandra Samperi was named the Jersey Mike's MAAC Women's Track Athle, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
  • Samperi led the charge for the Red Foxes at the Rider Invite with a historic day, setting two school records and earning multiple top finishes.
  • She broke her own program record in the long jump with a mark of 5.72 meters (18 feet, 9.25 inches), surpassing her previous best set in 2025.
  • Earlier in the meet, Samperi sprinted to a school-record time of 12.13 in the 100-meter dash, eclipsing the 2017 record of 12.44 while finishing second overall.
  • Manasi Simpkins was named the Jersey Mike's MAAC Men's Track & Field Athlete of Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
  • Simpkins led the way for the Red Foxes at the Rider Invite with a standout triple-win performance, capturing first place in the 200-meter dash, long jump, and as a member of the victorious 4x400-meter relay team.
  • He clocked a winning time of 22.66 in the 200 meters, soared 6.75 meters (22 feet, 1.75 inches) to win the long jump, and anchored the relay squad to a first-place finish in 43.19.
MEN'S LAST TIME OUT
  • The Marist men's and women's track & field teams delivered a series of standout performances at the Raleigh Relays, hosted by NC State on March 27-28, highlighted by a record-breaking sprint from Amari Mathis and multiple personal-best efforts across the weekend.
  • Mathis headlined the meet for the Red Foxes with a historic performance in the 100-meter dash. The senior crossed the line in a wind-legal 10.36, setting a new school record while finishing fourth overall in a loaded field of 102 competitors.
  • Among collegiate athletes, Mathis placed third, solidifying his position as one of the top sprinters in the region.
  • He returned to the track in the 200-meter dash, where he placed 30th with a time of 21.51 in another deep field of over 100 runners.
  • Miracle Okoli posted a season-best performance in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing 28th in 55.31 against a competitive field
  • Battling blustery winds and cold temperatures in the upper 20s and 30s, the Marist men's track & field team turned in a strong showing at the Rider 6-Way on Saturday at Rider University's Michael P. Brady Track. The Red Foxes were powered by a dominant day from Manasi Simpkins and a collection of personal-best performances across the board.
  • Simpkins led the way with a standout triple-win performance, capturing first place in the 200-meter dash, long jump, and as a member of the victorious 4x400-meter relay team. He clocked a winning time of 22.66 in the 200 meters, soared 6.75 meters (22 feet, 1.75 inches) to win the long jump, and anchored the relay squad to a first-place finish in 43.19.
  • The 4x400-meter relay team of Weston LaBrecqueSimeon WashingtonEmmanuel Harris, and Simpkins showcased strong chemistry and speed in the challenging conditions to secure the win.
  • In the 400-meter hurdles, Simon Advento delivered one of the top performances of the meet for Marist, placing second with a personal-best time of 56.28.
  • In the field, Heredia joined Simpkins atop the leaderboard in the long jump with a second-place mark of 6.67 meters (21 feet, 10.75 inches), giving Marist a 1-2 finish in the event.
WOMEN'S LAST TIME OUT
  • Marist women's track & field team turned in a record-setting performance at the Rider 6-Way on Saturday, highlighted by three school records and a wave of personal- and season-best marks despite blustery, cold conditions at Rider University's Michael P. Brady Track.

  • In the 400-meter dash, Fletcher led the way with a third-place finish in 1:01.51, followed closely by Julie Cristinzio (1:01.79, season best) and a tightly packed group of Red Foxes behind them.
  • Alicia Ramos delivered a standout performance in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing third with a personal-best time of 15.01, while Madison LaCreta added a season-best 15.31.
  • In the field events, Samperi's record-breaking long jump headlined a strong group effort that included a season-best from Emma Murphy (5.19 meters). 
  • Grace Murphy turned in an impressive day in the throws, recording personal bests in both the discus (27.90 meters) and javelin (34.85 meters), the latter earning her a fourth-place finish.
NEXT TIME OUT
  • The Red Foxes will be back in action at the Bison Outdoor Classic, hosted by Bucknell.
