NEWARK, DE -  The Marist College baseball team played its first extra-innings affair of the year this afternoon, falling 5-4 to Delaware in 10 innings.  Blue Hen junior Brock Donovan singled home senior Steve Van Note in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Delaware the win.
With Delaware trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the ninth, freshman Bryan Hagerich belted his second home run of the game and third of the season to tie the game at four and send it to extra innings.
Delaware opened the scoring in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Donovan but the Red Foxes (2-10) tied the game in the top of the second on an RBI single by Jimmy Board.
Marist took a 3-1 lead in the top of the fourth on a solo home run from Tyler Brock and an RBI single by Eric Johnson. The Hens cut the lead to 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI double by Van Note before the Red Foxes regained a two-run lead on Board's second RBI single of the afternoon in the top of the seventh. Hagerich's first home run of the afternoon in the bottom half of the inning for Delaware cut the Marist lead to 4-3.
Lucas Robinson was strong in the start for the Red Foxes, as he tossed 6.1 innings, cattering seven hits over the time.  He gave up three runs, two earned, while striking out six and walking none.  Travis Timmons retired both batters he faced in the seventh.  Scott Chambers took the loss, falling to 0-3, as he allowed two runs on five hits in 2.1 innings of work.
Board finished 3-5 with two RBI on the afternoon, while Johnson added an RBI in a 3-4 effort.   Tyler Brock had a homerun for the Red Foxes.
Marist will return to action on Wednesday when it travels to Seton Hall, before heading to George Washington for a three-game set next weekend.
