Final Stats
Philadelphia, Pa. - The Marist College women's lacrosse team met a very strong undefeated Drexel University squad, falling to the Dragons 16-3 this afternoon on the road. With the loss, the Red Foxes fall to 0-5 while Drexel improves to 5-0.
Drexel's Kerry Kelly got the Dragons on the board first with a free position goal at 25:45. Sophomore Tara Mullins tied the score at one with an unassisted goal at 18:28. That would be the last tally that the Red Foxes would see until the second half. The Dragons then exploded for nine unanswered goals before halftime, taking a 10-1 lead into the break.
Senior captain Maria Reoch broke Drexel's scoring run with a goal just five minutes into the half, but it the Dragons again went on a scoring spurt, tallying six-straight goals. Junior Christine Connell added the final Marist goal with just under two minutes remaining in the game.
Despite facing 42 shots and allowing 16 goals, keeper Heather Ripp, earned 17 saves. Drexel split goalie time between Maggie Koch, who had six saves, Kristen Urian, who had one save, and Katherine Klausner.
The Red Foxes are back in action on Monday, March 29th at 4:00pm against Binghamton at Leonidoff Field.
