Women's Lacrosse Earns First Win of Season Beating Binghamton 15-7

Poughkeepsie, NY- The Marist College women's lacrosse earned their first win of the season with a solid 15-7 victory over Binghamton during the Red Foxes home opener at Leonidoff Field this afternoon. The Red Foxes improve to 1-5 as head coach Noelle Cebron picked up her first win at the helm of the Marist.

The Red Foxes opened the scoring early in the first as Lauren Sherman netted her first goal of the game at the 28:43 mark. Christine Connell added a goal just over a minute later. Senior Katie Tutak gave the Red Foxes a 3-0 lead at the 25:03 mark with her first of three goals on the day.

Binghamton broke up the scoring barrage as Lauren Wetherell scored at the 24:33. But Marist answered by scoring five straight goals over the next 16 minutes. The Red Foxes took an 8-2 lead into halftime as Tara Mullins tallied her second goal of the day with 2:51 remaining.

In the second half, Marist again opened the scoring early in the period this time on a free position shot by Lauren Serge. Binghamton closed the gap to 11-6 at the 12:30 mark on a goal by Michelle Gross, but it was not enough as Marist shut the door on the Bearcats by scoring four unanswered goals.

Junior Heather Ripp made 11 saves in the cage for Marist while Christine Quon made 11 stops for Binghamton.

The Red Foxes return to action on Thursday, April 1st as they take on Sacred Heart at 7:00pm on Leonidoff Field.
