Buffalo, NY - The Marist College women's lacrosse team got back on track in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play as they cruised to and 11-3 win over Canisius today. The Red Foxes improve to 6-9 overall and 3-2 in the MAAC and move into a three-way tie for second place with Fairfield and Niagara.

The Red Foxes put Canisius away in the first half, scoring seven straight goals while shutting out the Griffs. Christine Connell began the scoring at the 17:09 mark as she netted the first of two back-to-back goals. Lauren Serge and Lauren Sherman would trade a pair of goals over the next six minutes. Maria Reoch gave the Red Foxes a 7-0 lead heading into halftime as she converted a free position shot with 52 seconds remaining.

Canisius opened the scoring in the second half as Amanda Marts scored her first of three goals in the period at the 27:44 mark. Reoch added her second goal of the game less than three minutes later off a feed from senior Katie Tutak. Reoch would then give Marist a 9-2 lead with 12:07 left to play as she netted her third goal of the game. The Red Foxes closed the period as Sherman and Connell tallied their third goals of the game over the last five minutes.

Reoch, Connell, and Sherman tallied three goals apiece, while Tutak finished the day with three assists and three draw controls

Heather Ripp made 10 saves in net for the Red Foxes, while Canisius' Rasheeda Brenton made six. Ripp also grabbed five groundballs in her winning effort.

The Red Foxes outshot Canisius 25-16 and held an 11-5 advantage in draw controls. The Griffs edged Marist in groundballs 28-19.

The Red Foxes close the regular season on Sunday, April 25th at Niagara as they vie for a MAAC Tournament berth.
