Final Stats

Albany, NY - The Marist women's lacrosse team dropped a 9-5 decision to Siena this afternoon on the road. After being down 4-1 at the half, the Red Foxes rallied to pull within one, but Siena's offense proved too much for Marist as the Saints took the victory. Marist dropped to 2-5 overall, 1-1 in the MAAC with the loss while Siena improved to 5-5 overall and 2-0 in conference.

Siena's Amy Schoomaker scored two of her team's four goals in the first half before Marist senior Francesca DeLorenzo put the Foxes on the board with 3:12 left in the half. Marist used that momentum as the team scored two quick goals in the second half from senior Lauren Serge and rookie midfielder Lindsey Diener. Marist was down just 4-3 with 25:00 left in the second before Siena's Christina Pampalone scored three consecutive goals.

The Saints would score two more goals to secure the 9-3 lead with 10:00 left in the half. Marist struggled to mount an offensive attack but scored two free position goals from DeLorenzo and Jessica O'Brien in the last minute of the game.

Joanna Maehr led the defense with a game-high eight groundballs along with three draw controls. Senior Lauren Sherman raked in seven groundballs along with two caused turnovers. Classmate Heather Ripp and freshman Liz Burkhard split time in goal, picking up nine saves. Bethany Zimmer had a solid afternoon in the cage for Siena, making 13 stops.

The Red Foxes will be back in action tomorrow, Sunday, on the road at LeMoyne at 12:00 p.m.
