Poughkeepsie, N.Y. - Marist freshman face-off specialist Dan Needle (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) was named MAAC Lacrosse League Rookie of the Week for the third week in a row, the conference office announced today. Needle won 31 of 50 draws in Marist's two games last week.
For the season Needle has won 93 of 179 face-offs for a 52% success rate. His 44 ground balls rank him third on the team behind senior defenders Dan Bellew and Mark Paquette (47 each).
The Red Foxes finished the regular season with a record of 6-7, 5-3 MAAC and have earned the fourth seed for this weekend's MAAC Championships, which Marist will host. The Red and White will take on top-seeded Providence in the semifinals at 7 p.m. Friday.
