POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist Men's Swimming and Diving team opened the 2006-07 campaign on Friday on the first day of the Red Fox Invitational. Marist is hosting Army and Syracuse for the two day, non-scoring event.
Marist had two in the top ten in the 1,000-yard freestyle, as Ralph Rienzo (Wallingford, Conn.) finished third overall in a time of 9:48.14. Sophomore Spencer Hartmann (Windsor, Conn.) finished up in ninth place, showing a time of 10:11.34.
In the 200-yard individual medley, Greg Jablonski (Massapequa, N.Y.) led the way for Marist with a third place finish in 1:58.39. He was followed by senior captain Brandon Youse (Boyertown, Pa.) in seventh place with a time of 2:00.11 and Dan Garaffa (Manchester, Conn.) in 12th, finishing in 2:04.40.
In diving, Devon O'Nalty (East Hartford, Conn.) took first place off the 3-meter board with a point total of 286.15. He was followed by fellow junior Jesus Santos (Haverstraw, N.Y.) in third place, showing 257.05. Mitchell Katz (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) and John Luboja (New York, N.Y.) rounded out the group in sixth and eighth, with scores of 209.45 and 189.70, respectively.
Marist will be back in action on day two of the Red Fox Invitational Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m.
