Marist Head Coach Matt Brady
On the play of Wilfred Benjamin:
When we got him, we knew he was going to be an impact player for us. This young guy has been great at being patient because Ryan Stilphen and James Smith are returning starters. Our whole team recognizes what we have in this young guy. We're fighting to try and get him minutes.
On the play of Canisius' Chuck Harris, who hit six three-pointers and finished with 27 points:
I challenged our guys to get around the screens. We talked about how streaky he can be. He's a guy I've liked in this league for a long time. I think a lot of him. When he gets started, he's a handful.
Marist junior forward Wilfred Benjamin
On Friday's 11-point, seven-rebound performance:
All I'm really trying to do is come off the bench and make plays for my team, and help out whichever way I can.
Marist senior point guard Jared Jordan
On receiving significant contributions from his bench:
Obviously it's important for us. Our starters sometimes carry the load, but we tonight didn't play that well. Getting contributions from the bench is huge.
On Wilfred Benjamin performance:
He played well. It's good to see ... we know he's capable of doing that, so it's not anything surprising.
Canisius Head Coach Tom Parrotta
On what his team tried to accomplish:
Obviously, Marist is picked first for a reason. They're a very talented team, a senior-laden team. We tried to do some things early. I thought we were pretty successful with some; that was trying to control (Will) Whittington and (Jared) Jordan. I think they had to work for everything they got tonight. One of the things we didn't do a great job on which we practiced all week was transition defense. ... Obviously, we pride ourselves being a very tough rebounding team. We got our butts kicked on the glass, and that's something I'm not at all happy about, because that hasn't happened.
