Strange, Strange Excel At Georgetown Invitational

Washington, D.C. - With two victories on Saturday, freshmen Alexandra Strange and Cassandra Strange of the Marist College women's tennis team have advanced to the doubles final of the main draw at the Georgetown Invitational.

The Strange sisters earned an 8-3 triumph over Jasmine Smith and Laura Marin of Howard in the quarterfinals. They followed that up with an 8-4 victory over Adriann Gin and Liz Winokur of Georgetown in the semifinals.

Additionally, Cassandra Strange has reached the semifinals of the singles' main draw. She posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Gin and a 6-2, 6-0 triumph over George Washington's Tracy Stecko. She will face Winokur in a semifinal on Sunday.

Marist sophomore Megan Gureck (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) have reached the semifinals of the singles' back draw.

Play at the Georgetown Invitational wraps up on Sunday.
