POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.-Niagara's Charron Fisher connected on all five of his 3-point attempts on his way to 33 points in leading the Purple Eagles to an 83-75 victory over homestanding Marist Friday evening in the James J. McCann Center. The loss snapped a 10-game winning streak for the Red Foxes dating back to last season. Niagara improved to 11-10 overall and 6-4 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, while Marist dropped to 15-6 overall and 7-3 in the league.

Lorenzo Miles also had 15 points for the Purple Eagles, while Clif Brown had 11 boards. Miles and Tyrone Lewis led Niagara with three assists.

For the game, Fisher hit 10 of his 15 field goal attempts.

Marist was led by senior point guard Jared Jordan's (Hartford, Conn.) 31 points, seven assists and three steals, while redshirt junior Ryan Stilphen (Bay Village, Ohio) had 20 points and a team-high eight boards. Jordan was one off his career-high of 32 points, which he scored against Iona on Jan. 28, 2005.

The Purple Eagles used quality 3-point shooting in the first half, powering to a five-point lead (27-22) on a 3-pointer by Fisher. However, Marist fought back and closed the gap to one at the half (32-31) after Niagara's Rydell Brooks hit two go-ahead free throws with 24 seconds to go in the half.

Marist trailed for all of the second half until Whittington hit three free throws following a technical foul that was assessed to Lewis. The game would be tied once more (61-61) on Whittington's only 3-pointer with 6:46 to go, but Fisher followed with a layup and a 3-pointer to put the game out of reach.

Niagara did a superb job of bottling up Marist's senior sharpshooter Will Whittington (Kingwood, Tx.) who went 1-10 from 3-point range and 1-12 from the field.

Niagara also held a commanding edge on the boards by a 39-29 margin. The Red Foxes also continued to struggle from the line, making just 56.5 percent (13-23) from the free throw line, while Niagara made 27 of 36 (75 percent).

Niagara went 10-17 (58.8 percent) from the 3-point line, while Marist went 6-27 (22.2 percent). The Red Foxes have made just 21 of their last 83 3-pointers (25.3 percent).

A bright spot for the Red Foxes was the turnover category, where Marist made just eight turnovers for the second consecutive game.

Marist will travel to MAAC co-leader Manhattan (10-9 overall, 7-2 MAAC) on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. game with the Jaspers.
