EDISON, N.J. - Head Coach Jim Parady of the Marist football team was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Football League Coach of the Year on Wednesday, and freshman safety Rory Foley (West Roxbury, Mass.) was named MAAC Football League Co-MAAC Defensive Rookie of the Year. Additionally, 14 Red Foxes earned All-MAAC honors, and nine players were named to the conference's All-Academic team.
Parady led the Red Foxes to a share of the MAAC championship for the second straight season, and Foley earned MAAC Rookie of the Week honors three times in Marist's last four games.
Eight Red Foxes were named First Team All-MAAC. They were running back Obozua Ehikioya (West Hempstead, N.Y.), left tackle Dan Cooper (Freehold, N.J.), center Neil Walsh (Wantagh, N.Y.), defensive end Tony Riley (Longmeadow, Mass.), defensive tackle Daniel Sullivan (Oakland, N.J.), inside linebacker Dan Smith (Reston, Va.), cornerback Daniel Diaz (Newfield, N.Y.) and punter Bradley Rowe (Stratham, N.H.).
Six Red Foxes - quarterback Stephen McGrath (Manasquan, N.J.), right tackle Jake Dembow (Merrimack, N.H.), kicker Chris Collins (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), defensive end OG Igbinosun (Rahway, N.J.), cornerback Kwame Carlor (Southbridge, Mass.) and the aforementioned Foley - were named Second Team All-MAAC.
Running back Bob Abbatiello (Schenectady, N.Y.), linebacker Christopher Byron (Sandwich, Mass.), Dembow, running back Ray Fiumefreddo (Wayne, N.J.), linebacker Kevin Foley (Washingtonville, N.Y.), wide receiver Kasey Nagle (Florence, Mass.), safety Patrick Pizzarelli (Staten Island, N.Y.), linebacker Kurt Steubing (Massapequa, N.Y.) and linebacker Nick Teodosio (Seymour, Conn.) were named to the MAAC All-Academic Team.
