POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist women's lacrosse program announced the signing of nine student-athletes to National Letters of Intent to attend Marist beginning in the fall of 2008.
The members of the 2012 women's lacrosse class are: Kelly Condon (Abington, Pa.), Lauren Cobb (Dewitt, N.Y.), Lauren Hall (Carmel, Ind.), Jori Proccacini (Hackettstown, N.J.), Kelsey Heckler (Fallston, Md.), Shannon Haas (Farmingdale, N.Y.), Alyssa Littin (Coronado, Calif.), Ariel Kramer (West Genesee, N.Y.), and Kelsey Thoms (Newark, N.Y.).
Kelly Condon - Abington, Pa./Abington - Defense
Kelly Condon is a four-year member of the Abington High School varsity women's lacrosse team and a member of the Ultimate Goal club team.
Condon is a two time First Team All-League selection and Defensive Team MVP. She also is a two year member of the Upper Atlantic Schoolgirls National Team. Condon also led her team in ground balls as a sophomore and junior, and has been named team captain for the second straight year. She has also been a National Honor Society member since 2006.
Condon's sister Megan played lacrosse at Temple alongside Cebron.
Condon on Marist: "Marist offers a great education, beautiful campus and a growing lacrosse program."
Lauren Cobb - Dewitt, N.Y./Jamesville-Dewitt - Midfielder
Cobb is a member of the Jamesville-Dewitt High School lacrosse team, and a 2007 Academic All-American. The midfielder was also named All-League in `06 and `07. She is also a year captain, and was named the team MVP after the 2006 season.
A member of the Central New York Elite Lacrosse Club under Head Coach Doug Rowe, Cobb was named All-Galaxy First Team in '07. She also is a member of the Schoolgirls National Team.
In 2004 she won the Presidential Award for Academic Excellence.
Cobb on Marist: "I chose Marist because the lacrosse program is very strong and competitive, as well as the school having a great academic reputation. The team gave off a great vibe when I visited."
Lauren Hall - Carmel, Ind./Cathedral High School - Midfield
Lauren Hall is the first player born in the state of Indiana to go on to play Division I women's lacrosse, and a 2007 All-American Honorable Mention.
She is a National Honor Society member and is part of the Midwestern Force club team. In 2007, Hall was a First Team All-State selection and captain of her Cathedral team.
She chose Marist because, "It was a perfect fit in terms of academics, lacrosse, and
location."
Jori Procaccini - Hackettstown, N.J./West Morris - Midfielder
A three year co-captain and First Team All-Area '07 selection at West Morris High, Procaccini was a member of the 2006 and 2007 Upper Atlantic Schoolgirls National Team.
A member of the National Honor Society and a Black Belt in Karate, Procaccini will reunite with high school teammate and current Red Fox Stephanie Garland (Long Valley, N.J.).
Procaccini on Marist: "I chose Marist because it has a great Psychology program, and it has a greatly improved lacrosse program which I believe can win a MAAC title."
Kelsey Heckler - Fallston, Md./Fallston - Defense
Kelsey Heckler is a three year varsity lacrosse player from Fallston High School in Maryland. She is a two year member of the National Honor Society and is ranked 35 of 370 in her class. Heckler is also a member of the NEMS club team.
In addition to lacrosse, Heckler was a 2007 Second Team All-State selection and her team won the state tournament.
Heckler on Marist: "I chose Marist because of the beautiful and welcoming campus. I loved everyone on the team, and the school has great academic credentials."
Shannon Haas - Farmingdale, N.Y./Farmingdale - Midfielder
Haas was an All-Conference selection in 2006 and All-County in 2007. Her team was the Long Island champion in '06 and '07, and was a New York State Finalist in 2007. She is also a member of the Yellow Jackets club team.
The Farmingdale High School senior is a three year member of the National and Spanish Honor Society.
Haas has a twin brother who will play lacrosse for Bryant and another brother who currently plays golf for Penn State.
Haas on Marist: "Marist is a good match for me because I enjoyed my official visit with the lacrosse girls in October. The school has a beautiful campus, is relatively close to home, and has all the majors I am interested in."
Alyssa Littin - Coronado, Calif./Coronado - Goalie
Alyssa Littin comes to Marist from Coronado High School in California where she was a teammate of Julia Schelkun (Coronado, Calif.). In 2007, Littin was a member of the San Diego Union Tribune All-Academic Team.
Littin was named City Conference First Team in '07 and was twice named a CIF Semifinalist ('06 and '07). She was also a member of the Pacific Team at the '07 Nationals.
Littin's father Bryan played football and track at Adams State College.
Littin on Marist: "When I visited Marist I knew that it was the perfect place for me to go to college. Coach Cebron and all of her players have great relationships with one another and that attracted me to the program. Women's lacrosse at Marist is growing very rapidly and that is something I definitely look forward to becoming part of. The campus is also extremely beautiful with its location on the Hudson River."
Ariel Kramer - West Genesee, N.Y./West Genesee Sr. - Midfielder
Ariel Kramer's West Genesee High School team won the 2007 league, sectional, and New York State championships, and is widely regarded as the top team in the nation.
Kramer is a 2006 and 2007 Scholar-Athlete and also was a member of three different League Championship teams as a varsity soccer player.
She was also a high school teammate of Ashley Dattellas (Camillus, N.Y.).
Kramer on Marist: "I decided on Marist because they are well known for their great communications program, the campus is beautiful, and the professors seemed to take a lot of interest in the students. After the fantastic overnight visit, I just knew Marist was where I had to go.
Kelsey Thoms - Newark, N.Y./Newark - Goalie
Thoms is a four year member of the Newark High School varsity lacrosse team, and was named an NYS Scholar Athlete in '05, '06, and `07. She also has been a four year member of the Central New York Elite Lacrosse Club where she was named All-Galaxy Team Honorable Mention in 2007. A National Honor Society member, Thoms was also the captain of her '07 soccer team.
Thoms on Marist: "I chose Marist because they had all of the possible majors I would want to study, a beautiful campus, a great, enthusiastic coach, and a team I felt I could fit into very easily. After my overnight, I knew with no doubt that this was where I wanted to come to go to school and play lacrosse."
These players will join a program that has recently experienced a great deal of success. Last season, the Red Foxes made the MAAC Tournament Championship Game and set program records in wins, win percentage, goals scored, and assists. Liz Falco (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) was named the MAAC Rookie of the Year.
Laxpower.com named Marist `2007's Biggest Mover' after they finished the year ranked 47th in the country (they started at 71). The Red Foxes were also in the top ten nationally in four of seven major categories including scoring offense (3rd) and draw controls (8th).
The Marist women's lacrosse team will begin their season on February 27, at home, versus Lafayette, and will begin their MAAC Title run at home, versus Fairfield, on March 29.
