PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The Marist women's lacrosse team suffered a 17-4 loss at Temple on Saturday, falling to 1-1 on the season. Junior Lindsey Diener (Nanuet, N.Y.) scored two goals to pace the Red Foxes. Sophomore Stephanie Garland (Long Valley, N.J.) and junior Ali Carnabuci (Albertson, N.Y.) also scored a goal apiece for Marist.
After Temple's Nicole Caniglia opened the scoring, Diener tied the contest at one apiece with 23:45 left in the first half. Garland's goal at the 15:37 mark cut Marist's deficit to 3-2, but from there, the Owls scored 11 consecutive goals.
Freshmen Liz Falco (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and Lindsay Rinefierd (Smithtown, N.Y.) added an assist apiece for the Red Foxes. Diener and Falco led Marist with five shots apiece. Garland, junior goalie Liz Burkhard (Wantagh, N.Y.), sophomore Ashley Dattellas (Camillus, N.Y.) and sophomore Caitlin Schuh (Columbia, Md.) led Marist with three ground balls apiece, and Dattellas also had two caused turnovers.
Marist will return to action on Wednesday against Long Island University in Wellington, Fla. The game will begin at noon.
