Final Stats
WELLINGTON, Fla. - Behind five-point performances from junior midfielder Lindsey Diener (Nanuet, N.Y.) and sophomore midfielder Stephanie Garland (Long Valley, N.J.), the Marist women's lacrosse team earned a 14-7 triumph over Long Island University on Wednesday. With the victory, the Red Foxes improved to 2-1 on the season.
Diener scored four goals and also added an assist, while Garland had a goal and four assists. Sophomore attacker Kate Noftsker (Needham, Mass.) tallied four points on the strength of two goals and two assists. Freshman midfielder Liz Falco (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and junior attacker Ali Carnabuci (Albertson, N.Y.) also scored two goals apiece for the Red Foxes.
Junior midfielder Jessica O'Brien (Wantagh, N.Y.) had a solid day leading the Marist defense, registering three ground balls and three caused turnovers. Senior defender Joanna Maehr (Stony Brook, N.Y.) had a team-best four ground balls and also had an assist. Freshman midfielder Morgan Dillon (Freeport, N.Y.) added three ground balls, and junior goalkeeper Liz Burkhard (Wantagh, N.Y.) finished with nine saves.
The Red Foxes will attempt to win their second straight game on Saturday, when they take on La Salle at 1 p.m.
