Final Stats
HAMILTON, N.Y. - Despite three goals apiece from freshmen Liz Falco (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and Lindsay Rinefierd (Smithtown, N.Y.), the Marist women's lacrosse team suffered an 11-8 loss to Colgate on Tuesday. The defeat drops the Red Foxes to 2-2 on the season.
Ali Carnabuci (Albertson, N.Y.) and Carolyn Sumcizk (Syosset, N.Y.) also scored goals for the Red Foxes, while Lindsey Diener (Nanuet, N.Y.) and Cristin Begley (Brookville, Md.) added one assist apiece. Falco led Marist with five shots and four shots on goal, while Rinefierd scored three goals on her only three shots of the game. Ashley Dattellas (Camillus, N.Y.) and Erin Wilson (Ada, Mich.) scooped up a pair of ground balls apiece.
Colgate (2-7) jumped out to a quick start, scoring the game's first three goals. The Raiders jumped out to a 6-2 halftime lead and expanded it to 10-3 before the Red Foxes scored five of the game's final six goals.
Jess Van der Mullen led Colgate with three goals. Molly Carroll (two goals, one assist) and Lindsay Pittard (one goal, two assists) also finished with three points apiece.
Marist will return to action on Saturday, when the Red Foxes take on Fairfield in their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Lacrosse League opener at 1 p.m.
