EASTCHESTER, N.Y. - The Marist women's lacrosse team used another offensive explosion to win its second straight game. The Red Foxes earned a 20-13 triumph against Manhattan at Eastchester High School on Friday to improve their record to 4-3 overall and 1-1 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Lacrosse League play. It marked the second straight contest Marist scored at least 20 goals, the first time in program history the Red Foxes reached the plateau in back-to-back games.
Freshman midfielder Liz Falco (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) once again led the charge for the Red Foxes, scoring four goals to give her a team-high 21 on the season. Falco also tied the program's single-game record with eight ground balls.
Falco was one of four Red Foxes to finish with a four-point game. Junior attacker Ali Carnabuci (Albertson, N.Y.) and sophomore midfielder Stephanie Garland (Long Valley, N.J.) each had three goals and an assist, and junior midfielder Lindsey Diener (Nanuet, N.Y.) had a goal and three assists. Sophomore midfielder Cristin Begley (Brookville, Md.) finished with two goals and an assist, and freshman midfielder Lindsay Rinefierd (Smithtown, N.Y.) totaled a goal and two assists. In all, 12 different Red Foxes scored goals, and nine had at least two points.
Falco's unassisted goal 1:07 into the contest got the Red Foxes on the board, and Garland followed with a goal 1:59 later on a free position shot. After Manhattan's Lauren Civardi scored with 22:29 left in the first half to cut Marist's lead to 3-2, the Red Foxes answered with four consecutive goals and never led by less than three the remainder of the game. Marist's largest lead was 10, which came when freshman midfielder Erin Wilson (Ada, Mich.) scored to put the Red Foxes up 18-8 with 17:34 remaining.

The win for the Red Foxes snapped a four-game losing streak to Manhattan, which included losses in the 2004 and 2005 MAAC Tournament. Manhattan also had defeated Marist in the 2006 regular-season finale, which enabled the Lady Jaspers to earn the last spot in the MAAC Tournament over the Red Foxes.
Marist will return to action on Sunday, with a MAAC contest against Iona at 1 p.m. The game will be held at Dietz Stadium in Kingston, N.Y.
