Red Foxes Remain Perfect In The MAAC With Wins Over Siena, Villanova

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Marist Women's Water Polo squad improved to 19-13 overall and 6-0 in the MAAC Water Polo League with wins over Siena and Villanova on Sunday. Freshman Angie Rampton (Simi Valley, Calif.) scored four goals in the Foxes' 13-8 win over Siena and classmate Hilary Schroeder (Santa Barbara, Calif./) scored three times in a 8-6 win over Villanova.

Marist used nine different goal scores in its win over the Saints in Loudonville. Rampton led the charge with her four markers, with sophomore Julie Wade (Whittier, Calif.) adding a pair of tallies for the Red Foxes. Marist had seven other players record one goal, including Kristen Barnett who added three assists to her marker. Katelin McCahill (East Grand Rapids, Mich.) contributed five drawn ejections in the win.

Junior captain Elizabeth Davis (Albuquerque, N.M.) made three saves in goal for Marist, while classmate and fellow captain Katy Zweifel (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) made six stops. Schroeder also collected two steals for Marist on the defensive side.

The Red Foxes also used a balanced scoring attack against Villanova, using five goal scorers to get their eight goals. Schroeder led the way with three goals, while McCahill found the back of the cage twice for Marist. Kari Weston (Chino Hills, Calif.), Barnett and Wade rounded out the scoring in the win. Weston added a pair of assists to her goal and Schroeder and McCahill each drew two ejections in the win over the Wildcats.

The goalies were again solid in game two on Sunday, with Davis making seven saves in the game and added an assist and a steal. Zweifel posted eight saves, including one on a penalty shot. McCahill rounded out a solid effort against Villanova with two steals for Marist.

With the victories on Sunday, the Red Foxes have now won seven straight contests. Marist will be back in the pool for two more MAAC contests on April 21 when it takes on Villanova and St. Francis (N.Y.). Game times are scheduled for 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. in New Rochelle, N.Y.
