NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Andrew Silva's Women's Water Polo team remained unbeaten in MAAC play on Saturday with an 11-1 win over Villanova and a 4-1 triumph over St. Francis (N.Y.). Katelin McCahill (East Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Hilary Schroeder (Santa Barbara, Calif.) each scored three goals over the two games as Marist improved to 21-13 and 8-0 in the MAAC Water Polo League.
The Red Foxes used eight goal scorers in their win over the Wildcats, with Schroeder scoring a team high three goals. Maggie Hatcher (Evanston, Ill.) posted a pair of markers in the win, with Kari Weston (Chino Hills, Calif.), Kristina Nickle (Lake Worth, Fla.), Angie Rampton (Simi Valley, Calif.), McCahill and Emily St. Omer Roy (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) all finding the back of the net once for the Foxes.
Weston, Rampton and Samantha Swartz (Harleysville, Pa.) each recorded two assists in the win and McCahill drew two ejections in the win. Swartz also played a strong game on defense, collecting three steals in the win.
Elizabeth Davis (Albuquerque, N.M.) and Katy Zweifel (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) each made a pair of saves for Marist.
The Red Foxes closed out the day with a hard fought 4-1 win over St. Francis (N.Y.). McCahill scored a pair of goals in the game, with Kristen Barnett (Houston, Texas) and Weston scoring once. Rampton picked up an assist and McCahill drew three more ejections. Sophomore Julie Wade (Whittier, Calif.) collected a pair of steals in the win.
Davis made three saves in goal and recorded a pair of steals and Zweifel stopped five St. Francis shots and posted a single steal.
With the victories, Marist has tied the school record for league wins in a season with eight. The Foxes will close out the regular season tomorrow when they tangle with Iona at 10:30 a.m. and Siena at 3:00 p.m. in Brooklyn, N.Y.
